The 2019 Schedule includes weaving, dyeing, felting, spinning, knitting and fiber harvesting.


11:15-11:45 Glenna Dean, Art Through The Loom Guild Spinning Anything with Nothing

Spinning yarn is nothing more than creating and deliberately distributing twist in your fiber. Paying close attention while practicing this simple principle will make your fiber respect YOU!

12:00-12:30 Deb Tewell, The Felting Source Dimensional and Textured Felt

Easier Than It Looks Flat felting can be easily manipulated to produce dimensions, layers, and textures that can be added to anything from hats to wall hangings.

12:45-1:15 Rhonda Amen, The Fleece Factory of the Rockies Weaving a rug with Alpaca rug yarn- Instant gratification weaving!

Using specially designed and handmade peg looms, we will create a rug from our Alpaca core rug yarn giving you tips and hints for a quickly made treasure for your home.

1:30-2:00 Judy Chapman Sculpting with Wool

Learn the history of needle felting and see how the needles transform wool into colorful sculptures!

2:25-2:45 Peggy Doney, The 100th Sheep Tints, Toners and Shades

How can I use white when it’s not a dye?  Toners?  What are those?  Won’t black just make my color disappear?  Come find out more about these lesser used colors.

3:00-3:30 Sarah Naataanii, Golden Navajo Churro Sheep Corral Navajo Weaving

Famous Navajo Weaver Sarah Naataanii, will demonstrate the traditional Navajo Loom.  Listen to sacred stories of how Navajo deities Spider man and Spider Woman brought the gift of weaving to the people.

SUNDAY Oct 6th

11:30-12:00 Miranda Dietrich, Phoenix Fiber Mill The Art Of Triangular Weaving

See how a weaver expresses herself with the art of triangular weaving. Miranda will discuss the natural fiber she uses and demonstrate the simplicity of this unique weaving style.

12:15-12:45 Laura L Ninnemann, Lone Raven Studio™ Do You Believe in Magic?

If you have never used the Magic Loop method of circular knitting, join me and try it yourself. You will never use double-pointed needles again.

1:00-1:30 TahNibaa Naataanii, Golden Navajo Churro Sheep Corral Traditional Navajo Hand Spinning Using a Lap Spindle

This demonstration will focus on the cultural significance of the Navajo spindle and share carding and spinning Navajo churro wool from the rolags, spinning directly from uncarded fleece.

1:45-2:15 TDLT Weavers, TDLT Fiber Artisans You've Got to Be Warped to Weave

Try your hands at weaving, you’ll be amazed at what you can create - our looms will be warped and ready for you to use.

2:30-3:00 Shelley Loveless, Rio Fernando Farm Plucking a Rabbit

Showing the tools and techniques for both grooming an angora rabbit and the best way to harvest their wonderful wool.

Calling all fiber artists, friends, teachers, and anyone interested in sharing their passion, knowledge, and ideas about the wonderful world of fiber! Demonstrations are ALWAYS needed and welcomed at the wool festival.

If you have new, exciting, crazy, traditional, innovative and/or wild talents that you could share with festival attendees, THIS could be your moment shine.

Please send a brief description of the demonstration and availability for festival weekend fun. You do NOT need to be a vendor to use this opportunity to share your woolly wisdom.
